ATI has a current need for a full-time Environmental/Records Specialist supporting a federal agency in environmental records (i.e., document) management. Position requires a bachelors degree. The position does not require previous records management experience, but 1 to 4 years of experience in records management or similar type work is highly desirable. United States citizenship and the ability to pass a federal government background check required.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting records management contracts. The tasks involved include, but are not limited to:
  • Reviewing, categorizing, and uploading documents (including metadata) into a federal government database, part of which is visible to the public
  • Record coding and organization
  • Quality control reviews
  • Coordination and preparation of documents for scanning
  • Merging and bookmarking PDF images

Required Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated report writing experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical reports and documents.  
  • Ability to effectively respond to questions from clients, managers, vendors and employees using tact, courtesy and cooperativeness.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure including ability to compute costs, purchase orders, and check vendor invoices.
  • Some mathematic problem solving, reasoning and interpretation skills.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Strong analytical skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the desire/ability to quickly
    learn new tasks.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to deal with a few abstract and concrete variables, exercising judgment, resourcefulness, ingenuity, and initiative.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage, organize, and catalog physical and electronic records.
  • High level of professionalism for client interaction.
  • Ability to stack, move, carry, and sort document boxes weighing approximately 30 pounds each.
  • Ability to exercise discretion while managing confidential information.

Required Experience

None. This is an entry level position.

Preferred Experience

1 to 4 years of experience in records management or similar type work is highly desirable, but not required.

Required Education

The position requires a minimum Bachelors degree.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to:
  • Stack, move, carry, and sort document boxes weighing approximately 30 pounds each.
  • Reach to move document boxes to/from racks/shelves;
  • Use hands to touch, handle or feel objects, document pages, or controls;
  • Reach with hands and arms;
  • Speak and hear;
  • Frequently sit and/or stand;
  • Possess specific vision abilities including close vision and depth perception;
  • Drive rental or company vehicles to client offices or vendor locations; and
  • Travel by commercial air carrier to client locations;

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position will primarily be in ATI's office in Columbia, MD, but will require travel occasional travel to St. Louis approximately for a duration up to1 week.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will normally be in a climate-controlled office.
